Spotify is promoting its influential hip hop playlist, RapCaviar, by embracing a cultural icon--the money phone.
The meme, which 50 Cent claims to have invented, has seen rappers and hip hop artists such as Drake, Future and Migos posting photos of themselves holding stacks of cash to their faces, as if it were the latest iPhone.
Now, it's made its way into Spotify's latest marketing stunt as the brand has hand-crafted a limited edition RapCaviar MoneyPhone.
Basically a chunk of faux bills with a hole carved out to accommodate a real smartphone, "It's oversized. Excessive. And the ultimate expression of 'money talks,'" the brand explains in a statement. It comes with adapters to accommodate both plus-sized and smaller phones and will be going out to artists and some of RapCaviar's most dedicated super fans over the coming weeks.
